Yokai Watch - PlaySkool Heroes - Mr. Potato Head - Sesame Street - My Little Pony Plush
Yokai Watch Model Zero (Season 2)
The second season of Yokai Watch brought with it a new feature for the role play watch, projected animations. There was an ask to make this feature available to play with on shelf, which was activated by a toggle switch on the side of the product, and caused a three cell animation to be projected from the front of the watch. There is an angled insert built into this package to allow the projection to be viewed from the front of the box.
Yokai Watch Medal Moments (Season 2)
Due to the new feature in the Season 2 medals, there needed to be a cost reduction to the packaging to help keep the same cost from year to year. This was accomplished by taking out the inner blister found in the Season 1 product, and replacing the outer blister with a vac-formed blister to hold the product in place. The graphic insert was simplified in order to fit in the new blister as well.
Galactic Heroes Imperial AT-AT Fortress
It was important for this project to show the articulation of the AT-AT's legs, which lead to the building of a multi-level platform box, giving the illusion of the AT-AT walking. The feet of the AT-AT were too large to fit inside of the required box depth, so they were packed off underneath the platform and replicas of the feet were printed on the platform to show what they would look like when assembled. This helped to keep the case pack to two, and keep the product within cost.
Galactic Heroes BB-8 Adventure
There were many challenges with this product, including communicating it was both a playset and a BB-8 figure, allowing for multiple try-me's in the box, and showing that the BB-8 head extended from the playset and opened up to reveal yet another play area. The try-me's in this package include an electronic push button on the head (as illustrated by the call out added at the neck area), a pull out platform in the center of the playset (shown by the call out on the band on the right side of the figure), and some other smaller try-me's not called out, but accessible on shelf. The 5th panel callout on the top right of the package showed a fully opened and expanded BB-8 head.
Transformers Rescue Bots Optimus Prime Race Track Trailer
The Race Track Trailer was one of the most interesting dielines used for the Rescue Bots line of products. It features an over 15" tall Optimus Prime figure, as well as two smaller Flip Racer Figures. Inside of the closed ares of the box is the remaining pieces needed to assemble the trailer for this playset. The team wanted to ensure both the large Optimus and the small Flip Racer figures were properly displayed, and that there was enough space for an illustration showing the playset in action. Working with the branding and graphics team, the illustration on the front was able to be manipulated to show the playset in action, without covering the large Optimus on the right.
Sesame Street Tickle Me Elmo
One of the most iconic Sesame Street toys is Tickle Me Elmo, and with a long brand history, it was important to show how this Elmo was different than the last. With two try-me locations, it was important that the stomach and foot of Elmo were both easily accessible. A small platform was built into the bottom of the dieline to raise up Elmo's foot and a call out was folded out of the roll over to show where to tickle Elmo. To ensure enough light was entering the box, the top of the box was cut back and rolled over, allowing visability while keeping a clean edge.
My Little Pony Feature Wing Plush
At a $24.99 price point, the original ask for this item was to showcase it in an open box with scenery depicting Canterlot and the castle it is home to. Due to being tight on cost, packaging was reduced to keep the item profitable. The small platform shown was able to be accomplished by the product being able to sustain its own weight. The smaller platform also allowed for an easier try-me feature, allowing the leg to be squeezed and the wings to move freely.
My Little Pony Soft Scale Plush
A large PDQ of plush figures with Hangtags to provide room for copy and legal lines. The product was slightly adjusted after packaging considerations so the head of the figure was above the rear end of the one in front of it. This allowed for a shallower PDQ tray.
Mr. Potato Head Knight Story Pack
Nicknamed the "Tilted Tader" pack, there was an ask from marketing to make this $24.99 package stand out on shelf next to the $19.99 offerings which also included a plastic case. To show the silly combinations on the front of pack, and to give it a different profile than the $19.99 item, the package was rested on an angled platform with a 2-side printed sleeve to give ample room for call outs. The sleeve can be removed from the case cleanly with no residue to allow the customer to use it as a storage case for the pieces. The blue color of the case was also specified to differentiate from the clear case on shelf.
