Leading the company’s efforts to “right size” all of the current Play Kits, which is driving major cost reduction and container efficiencies, as well as sustainability goals

Refreshing the current line of products at Retailers, such as Target, and develop packaging solutions for new products and future retailers

Created the packaging for the new Four Year Old Play Kits (The Connector, The Examiner, The Persister, and The Planner), including both retainable and non-retainable packaging

Brought on a new sample cutting vendor to aid in the communication of packaging expectations to on-site and over seas partners

NEMO Equipment

Senior Packaging Designer

June 2021 - May 2022

NEMO Equipment’s sole packaging expert, working across the entire line of NEMO products to create more eco-conscious solutions to meet the company’s sustainability goals.

Created new vendor relationships, allowing for the printing and distribution of packaging material to be sourced from less suppliers. This created more consistency in the print quality of all of the packaging for the brand.

Working on multiple cost savings operations, reducing packaging and saving on distribution costs, resulting in hundreds of thousands of dollars in savings for the 2023 product line.

Established a creative review process to ensure that the correct stakeholders are reviewing and approving artwork before production. This helped to limit the amount of last minute changes, and allows the print supplier to start production sooner.

Currently concepting and creating new in-store display options to increase sell through in smaller retail locations.

 

Hasbro Inc.

Packaging Engineer

July 2014 - June 2021

Worked with a cross functional team of product designers, marketers, cost engineers, graphic designers, and mechanical engineers to create and manage packaging structures for multiple brands, including Transformers, BeyBlade, My Little Pony, and Mr. Potato Head. Ensure packaging met all retail requirements and transit testing. 

Designed with cost in mind by reducing the use of plastics and other non-sustainable packaging materials and replacing them with more Eco-conscious solutions such as recycled PET and, more recently, BioPET, as well and sourcing paperboard from sustainable sources.

Focused on Hasbro’s Plastic Free Packaging initiative by removing over 10 tons of PET plastic from the Transformers line of products, and have a patent pending keylock design.

Worked on tight deadlines, helping to bring products to market in as quick as 6 months, or 1/3 the normal development time of a standard product. 

Developed packaging for eCommerce that was Amazon FFP and SIOC compliant.

Maintained the Packaging Co-Op Program by recruiting, interviewing, training, and managing college students, many of whom were later brought back as temp or full time employees.

Worked with suppliers, marketers, product developers, as well as other packaging engineers to create, and manage new packaging specifications for several product launches. 

Focused on light-weighting packaging solutions, as well as more sustainable options.

Qualified dangerous goods packaging based on 49 CFR and IATA regulations. Conducted distribution testing by running the vibration table and drop tester for non-dangerous goods packaging.

Improved database management by organizing legacy items into a new SAP system.

Had experience in healthcare, industrial, dangerous goods, and consumer packaging by working on brands such as Post-It, Scotch-Brite, and ACE

Planned educational and social programs and floor meetings. Fostered a sense of community with fellow floor members. Handled any emergency situations that arose. Took on a leadership role while being a Senior Resident Adviser by having 14 other Resident Advisers as direct reports with the help of the Resident Director.
